The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, popularly referred to as the 'Evo', is a sports sedan and rally car based on the Lancer that was manufactured by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from 1992 until 2016. There have been ten official versions to date, and the designation of each model is most commonly a Roman numeral.
The hugely successful Lancer received a full makeover, based on the Lancer Cedia. The result was the stunning Evolution VII. It had a longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels. It also had an improved turbocharger, an uprated intercooler, a magnesium rocker cover, hollow camshaft and stainless steel exhaust.

The Evolution VII was the seventh iteration of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and was introduced in 2001. The Evo VII was the first Lancer Evolution variant not to be used as the basis for a World Rally Championship entry, and as such was free from various competitive constraints.
