What is Earth Hour? Every year in late March, millions of people across the globe unite to show that they care about the future of our planet by switching off for one hour. Earth Hour, an initiative of WWF, was famously started as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.
The Biggest Hour for Earth. Since our beginnings in 2007, Earth Hour has been known for the “lights off” moment, with individuals from around the globe switching off their lights to show symbolic support for the planet and to raise awareness of the environmental issues affecting it.

Earth Hour 2024, set on March 23, Saturday, will once again bring together millions of people across the world so they can all give an hour for Earth and play a role in protecting nature. The local observance of Earth Hour, led by WWF-Philippines, will be held at the Kartilya ng Katipunan, beside the Manila City Hall.
For Earth Hour and Earth Day 2024, we called on you to devote an hour or more of your time to Earth – giving back to the planet that gives us so much. We recorded over 105,106 hours of positive action for the planet, creating the biggest hour for Earth!
