Marlowe wrote seven plays that we know of, several of which are still regularly performed in the twenty-first century. Marlowe was a major influence on the young Shakespeare, who followed in his innovative play-writing footsteps, particularly with regards to the history plays.
Marlowe's Works. Marlowe has left us from his short, but brilliant, career seven plays, and in several of them he was a pioneer in that particular genre. Of these Tamburlaine Parts 1 and 2 caused the greatest excitement among his contemporaries.
