Early History of Siler City. Around 1750, Plikard Dedrick and Elizabeth Hartzoe Siler started a productive plantation farm less than four miles north of downtown on Lacy Creek. The Siler’s had sailed from Rhine, Germany in 1741. In 1756, Rocky River Baptist Church was organized by the Reverend Shubal Stearns.
