The King's School, Chester, is a co-educational private day school for pupils aged 4 to 18. It is one of the seven 'King's Schools' established (or re-endowed and renamed) by King Henry VIII in 1541 after the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is situated outside the city of Chester, England.

We’ve been around for more than 475 years, but our Senior School never stands still. It is an exciting, energising and empowering community of learning. King’s is regularly named as the top performing school in Cheshire for GCSEs. In 2023, 27% of GCSE results were grade 9, with 51% at 9/8 and 84% 9/6.
The King’s School is an independent, academically selective school taking girls and boys from ages 4-18 years old. Entry into Willow Lodge (infants) and Senior School is by assessment day or examination in January for the following September entry.
King’s is one of the seven famous Cathedral Schools established by Henry VIII in 1541. Today we are a thriving, forward-thinking, independent day school with 740 pupils. The King's School, Chester. The School was founded AD 1541 by King Henry VIII, in conjunction with the Cathedral Church of Chester. It was reorganised under the Endowed Schools Act in 1873, and by subsequent schemes of the Ministry of Education. The School is now Independent.
