Sydney Smith Haldimand Dickens (18 April 1847 – 2 May 1872) was a Royal Navy officer, the fifth son and seventh child of English novelist Charles Dickens and his wife Catherine.

The seventh child and fifth son of Charles and Catherine Dickens, born in 1847 and named after a naval hero. He joined the Royal Navy, but died of bronchitis at sea in 1872, aged 25.
Source citation. The inscription reads : Lieutenant Sydney Smith Haddington, fifth son of Charles and Catherine Dickens. Born 18th. April 1847, died and was buried at sea 2nd. May 1872.
