Mar 29, 2017 · MANILA – It has been exactly 15 years since matinee idol Rico Yan passed away. Yan was at the peak of his career when he died of cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis on March 29, 2002. His former girlfriend and on-screen partner, Claudine Barretto, previously admitted that Yan’s death is her “ yearly nightmare.”
Yan was on a Holy Week vacation with five of his friends at the posh resort when he passed on. He was 27 when he died in 2002. Reports said Yan's family wanted him to join the Holy Week break in Cebu, but he decided to go to Palawan not just for recreation but to shoot a segment for a Kapamilya show.
