Mandaluyong is the 6 th smallest city in the Philippines with a total land area of 1,126 hectares (11.26 km 2). This constitutes 1.77 % of the 636 sq. km. total land area of Metro Manila which is composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality.
Likewise, the city was conferred the Presidential Award for the Most Child Friendly City of the Philippines in 2011 by the Council for the Welfare of Children while she headed the Mandaluyong City Local Council for the Protection of Children as Program Director.
History. THE EVOLUTION OF LOCAL BARRIOS. According to Pedro Patricio in his book (Mandaluyong: 1837-1975), Mandaluyong has five (5) original barrios as per the first recorded census in 1903. From these five (5) evolved 22 sub-barrios which, like the original barrios, then became independent barangays. Poblacion.
