Haileybury College and Haileybury Girls College have both summer and winter uniforms that are worn throughout the year. The sports uniform varies between the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. For students in Years 7–12, Saturday Sport is compulsory and as such a specialised uniform must be purchased depending on the chosen activity.

Haileybury School is founded by Charles Rendall (a graduate of Haileybury College in England), with 17 students. The first student enrolled, Barney Allen, goes on to become Master of Classics at the University of Melbourne.
