The Way Out Fund provides Berea’s students with the financial support they need to accept internship opportunities without the fear of accumulating debt.This unique fund seeks to explicitly remove the financial barriers that a Berea student will face making these hands-on experiences affordable for all students.

The Berea College Board of Trustees began a presidential search process earlier this year after President Lyle D. Roelofs announced his upcoming retirement. The Board appointed a search committee comprised of a diverse mix of students, faculty, staff and trustees, led by Berea College trustees Charlotte Beason and David Shelton.
And because Berea College offers students a top-notch education without ever charging students tuition, it also subsidizes the cost of studying abroad. Providing students funding to go abroad is a big reason why nearly half of Berea students study abroad in more than 67 countries during their time at the College.
