It was on July 17, 1959 that the Board of Trustees of MAC approved the offering of a five-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering (BSAE).

The various academic departments were then elevated into colleges. Hence, the Department of General Agriculture became the new College of Agriculture, the mother college of the University.
