Heerlen is located at 50°53′N 5°59′E in the province of Limburg in the southeast of the Netherlands on the border with Germany. It is situated in the COROP region of South Limburg and is part of the agglomeration Parkstad Limburg, formerly known as Oostelijke Mijnstreek.
Heerlen (uitspraak ⓘ; Limburgs: plaatselijk Heële) is een stad en gemeente in het zuidoosten van de Nederlandse provincie Limburg. Op 1 januari 2024 had Heerlen 87.498 inwoners (CBS). Heerlen is daarmee de grootste gemeente in de Oostelijke Mijnstreek, en de vierde van Limburg, na Maastricht, Venlo en Sittard-Geleen.

Heerlen, gemeente (municipality), southeastern Netherlands. It lies just northeast of Maastricht. Situated on the site of the Roman settlement Coriovallum (with remains of a Roman bath), it is essentially a modern town that grew rapidly as the centre of the Dutch coal-mining district.
Heerlen is a city in South Limburg in the southeast of the Netherlands. In Roman times, it was a settlement named Coriovallum, which hosted a bathhouse, now the Thermenmuseum. Heerlen has become a part of a new larger project city, called Parkstad Limburg, composed of Brunssum, Kerkrade, Landgraaf, Onderbanken, Nuth, Simpelveld en Voerendaal.
