The town name “Cainta” was derived from the legend of Ka Inta. ‘Ka’ refers to a term of respect for the elders, and ‘Inta ’, short for Jacinta. Jacinta was a well known rich and generous lady who helped the hungry and the sick.
Along with this, Cainta was also recognized as the Overall Most Competitive Municipality by the National Competitiveness Council for the years 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021. It was also cited as ranking 1st place in Government Efficiency, Economic Dynamism and in Infrastructure for the same years.

Cainta earned the titles in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 and now in 2024. Likewise, the Province of Rizal was named the Most Competitive Province in the entire Philippines.
