Washington Z. SyCip, [1] PLH BOLk RNO1kl ( / ˈsiːsɪp /; Chinese: 薛 華 成 [2] / 薛 華 盛 [3]; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Sih Hôa-sêng; pinyin: Xuē Huáchéng; 30 June 1921 – 7 October 2017) was a Chinese-Filipino - American accountant. He was the founder of the accounting firm EY SGV & Company and the Asian Institute of Management .
"Washington SyCip was a towering pillar of the Philippine economy. For decades, he stood as an exemplar of excellence and integrity while shining the light of his sage guidance on our business community," former Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, who used to head SGV & Co., said in a statement.
Washington SyCip was born to Albino SyCip, the lead incorporator of China Bank, and his wife Helen Bau on June 30, 1921. Up until he was five years old, Washington or Wash, as he was fondly called by family and friends alike, spent most of his years in Shanghai with his grandfather and mother.
