    • 1. (1910–53), Belgian jazz guitarist; born Jean Baptiste Reinhardt. He became famous in Paris in the 1930s for his improvisational style, blending swing with influences from his Romani background. In 1934, together with violinist Stephane Grappelli, he formed the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
