Aldrich Killian is the primary antagonist of the 2013 film Iron Man 3, the third and final installment of the Iron Man trilogy and a posthumous antagonist in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He is a scientist and the arch-enemy of Iron Man.
The Mandarin, also known by his real name as Trevor Slattery, is the main, later tertiary antagonist of Iron Man 3. His identity as the Mandarin was created by Killian and was used as a puppet to hide Killian from being suspected by the US Government.
In April 2012, Ben Kingsley entered into negotiations to play a villain in Iron Man 3, a part which Anthony Mackie, who would later portray Sam Wilson in the MCU, also auditioned for.
