Sep 16, 2013 · At about 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013, while crossing the Interstate 5 Skagit River Bridge at Mount Vernon, a tractor-trailer's oversized load dings part of the truss and the northernmost truss span collapses into the river. The truck makes it to the other side but two vehicles carrying three people fall into the river along with the span.
