Nestor (John Hannah) is a Senator and an old friend of Aurelius. The night after the coronation (also when Aurelius is appointed the head of Romulus's guards), Rome is attacked by the Goths in the Battle of Ravenna. Most of Aurelius' men are killed, and Aurelius is stunned and left for dead.
