Irving Louis Horowitz (1929-2012) was a sociologist, political scientist, and the founder of Transaction Publishers. He wrote over 50 books on various topics, including Cuban Communism, and established the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy.
With over five thousand published titles to its credit, Transaction Publishers has been central to the circulation and globalization of the social sciences. The Archives are arranged in three series: Transaction Publishers Archives, Irving L. Horowitz Academic Papers, and C. Wright Mills.
Transaction Publishers was a New Jersey-based publishing house that specialized in social science books and journals. It was located on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers University. Transaction was sold to Taylor & Francis in 2016 and merged with its Routledge imprint.
