Destrehan is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, United States. At the 2020 census, its population was 11,340. It is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River. Destrehan is part of the New Orleans—Metairie—Kenner metropolitan statistical area.
Built in 1787, Destrehan Plantation is the oldest documented plantation home in the lower Mississippi Valley. The plantation is open seven (7) days a week with the exception of major holidays from 9am to 5:30pm. The first tour begins at 9:30am.

In 1787 Antoine Robert Robin DeLongy commissioned the original French Colonial–style mansion, which uses bousillage (mud- and straw-filled) walls supported by cypress timbers.
