On April 14, 1521, the First Baptism took place in the island of Zubu (Cebu) in which 500 natives led by Rajah Humabon and his wife were baptized to the Christian Faith. Rajah Humabon was given the Christian name Carlos while his wife, Juana.
Humabon, his wife, Hara Amihan, and his subjects were the first known Christian converts in the Philippines. However, since there were no Catholic priests in Cebu from 1521 to 1565, this Christianity was not practised until the return of the Spaniards to Cebu.
