MAYNARD DIXON (1875-1946), illustrator, landscape painter and poet, was married to three talented and artistic women in his lifetime. His second wife was famed documentary photographer, DOROTHEA LANGE. Many of her personal photographs are included in the film, and more than 400 of Dixon's incredible paintings and drawings.

Oct 2, 2012 · Dixon was elected to the New York–based Society of Illustrators in 1911 and took a bronze medal at the Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. He painted colorful murals for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix.
