On 1 March 1886, he founded Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) with the purpose of nurturing students to be of service “for God and humanity”. The school, established in a small shophouse in No. 70 Amoy Street began providing instruction in English and Chinese to 13 children of Chinese merchants.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) The ACS (Independent) IP is a six-year programme and IP students are not required to take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination, except for Mother Tongue.

Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) conducts an annual admission examination for students who wish to enroll in the school in Year 5 for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (equivalent to junior college year 1) for Academic Year 2024.
Scholarships. The RSP scholarships are open to all Year 1 Singaporean students. The scholarship terms include : Scholarship allowance of $1,000 per annum. Annual school fee subsidy of $2,400. Subsidised enrichment programmes including fieldtrips, seminars and talks.
