WELCOME TO Davao del Sur. Davao del Sur’s capital city of Digos borders the nearby Davao City in the north. It is bordered by Cotabato, Kidapawan City and Sultan Kudarat in the west; by General Santos City and Celebes Sea in the south; and by the Davao Gulf in the east.
Local historians claim that the word “DAVAO” came from the phonetic blending of the words of the Bagobo subgroups when referring to Davao River, an essential waterway which empties itself into Davao Gulf near the city.
