Sep 20, 2022 · Republic Act No. 5521, approved on June 21, 1969, gave Bicol University corporate existence. Although the law took effect upon its approval, the formal organization and establishment was on September 22, 1970, by virtue of Resolution No. 1 of the Board of Regents.
The school was then transferred under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Region V in the school year 1997-98. On the December 14, 2000, by virtue of R.A. 7722, R.A. 8292 & R.A. 8769 the school was integrated to Bicol University as one of its units and changed the name into Bicol University Polangui Campus. The Bicol University College of Nursing history can be traced back to the Republic Act No.5521, dated January 17,1969 which was enacted during the fourth session of the Sixth Congress of the Republic of the Philippines.
On June 22, 1963 pursuant to Republic Act No. 3651, it became the Bicol College of Fisheries. However, the opening of collegiate courses were deffered due to financial constraints. On September 22, 1969 by virtue of Republic Act No. 522, the college was incorported with the first state university in the Bicol Region, the Bicol University.
