The Florida A&M University School of Nursing is the oldest continuing baccalaureate nursing program in the United States at a historically black institution. Established in 1904 as a hospital based program, it became the first baccalaureate program in Florida in 1936.
Jun 14, 2024 · Florida A&M University was founded in 1887 as the State Normal (teacher-training) College for Colored Students. In 1891 it was designated Florida’s land-grant institution for African Americans, and its name was changed to the State Normal and Industrial College for Colored Students.
