Anthony Martin Sinatra, born Saverio Antonino Martino Sinatra, was a Hoboken city fireman, professional boxer, bar owner, and father of singer and actor Frank Sinatra. On December 21, 1903, he immigrated to New York City from Palermo, Sicily, on the SS Città di Milano with his mother Rosa Sagliabeni Sinatra and his sisters Angela and Dorotea.
His father, Anthony Martin Sinatra, was a boxer who, though born in Sicily, went by the name of “Marty O’Brien” in order to be allowed to fight in Hoboken’s Irish-only gymnasiums. Marty later became a tavern-owner and firefighter.
