Gameboys the movie is meant to be (according to the creators) a standalone story that even non-viewers of the series would be able to enjoy it BUT.... the movie, as a whole, felt like more of a fanservice. It was lacking in most parts that if i, for example, would remove what i know about the series, would make me feel lost along the way.
