Silenced (Korean: 도가니; English: "The Crucible") is a 2011 South Korean crime drama film based on the novel The Crucible by Gong Ji-young, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk and starring Gong Yoo and Jung Yu-mi.
Based on novel "Dokani" written by Kong Ji-Young (published in 2009). The novel was inspired by a true incidents which occurred at a school for hearing-impaired persons in Gwangju, South Korea. Movie adaptation was first conceived by main actor Gong Yoo.
