Bontoc, the capital town was once dubbed by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as “Home of the Fearless and Sturdy People.” At present, the Local Government calls the place “Ili ay Kalalalychan” (“Beloved Hometown”) which is home to the rice terraces in barangays Alab, Dalican, Bontoc Ili, Guina-ang, Maligcong and Bayyo.
