Our tour guide was fantastic -- very enthusiastic and thorough and talked about the history of the Palace. Had a tour arranged with friends and family and we all thought it was well worth the trip. I definitely recommend trying to get a tour if you can. Absolutely great opportunity to learn and hear about history of the Philippines.

But not many know that it wasn’t specifically built to serve as a Presidential Palace. In 1750, Spanish aristocrat Don Luis Rocha built the Malacañan Palace to serve as his summer house.
Meet up with your tour group at the Legarda Mansion, an art-deco house that dates all the way back to the colonial era. From there, you'll walk to the Malacañang Palace, located only a stone's throw away from the mansion.
During a tour of Malacañang Palace, visitors may see historical areas, state rooms, the palace's museum which houses a rich collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to the Presidents of the Philippines, and beautifully maintained gardens.
