Lidlidda is a landlocked municipality in the coastal province of Ilocos Sur. The municipality has a land area of 33.84 square kilometers or 13.07 square miles which constitutes 1.30% of Ilocos Sur's total area.
While Bugui, now one of Lidlidda’s modern day barangays, became a rancheria of the Comandancia de Tiagan in 1847, Lidlidda and Labut were described as part of Ilocos Sur (Pavia and De Vigo 1872) particularly under the Pueblo de Candon (Paper No.50: Commandancia de Tiagan).
