For example, I write in .tex something similar as: Our tool succeeds to validate x samples by Method A, and y samples by Method B. Thus its score is z. Where z is defined as x+y, and x (resp. y) is instanced somewhere else by a number, eg., 30 (resp. 50).

Use MiKTeX Settings (Admin) and Refresh FNDB. Go to TeXnicCenter -> Build -> Define Output Profiles -> Import tex4ht.tco. Three (3) new output profiles will be created in TeXnicCenter. LaTeX=>HTML2 and LaTeX=>MathJax profiles create *.html output files: LaTeX=>MathML profile creates *.xml output file.

A solution comes from the mathtools package, which defines \vcentcolon and \coloneqq commands; these lead to two different results, as regards the horizontal spacing between the colon and the equality sign. Compare: The \coloneq (one q!) symbol exists in mathabx, Mnsymbol and fdsymbol (at least). It's named \coloneqq in kpfonts and mdsymbol.
Jan 20, 2012 · Update: As others have pointed out, \textit and \textsl do automatic italic correction, whereas \it, \itshape, \sl, and \slshape do not. Thus, you can write \textit{stuff}, but you must write {\it stuff\/} or {\itshape stuff\/} to get the same effect. Share. Improve this answer.
