Born in Manila in 1914, Anita Magsaysay-Ho is known for her Modernist paintings celebrating rustic Filipino women. She is credited with the development of Neo-Realist painting in her country, and is considered one of the Thirteen Moderns of Philippine Art, which included Victorio Edades, Carlos Francisco, Galo Ocampo and Vicente Manansala.
Anita Magsaysay-Ho was a pioneering artist and one of the first modernists in the Philippines. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines under Fernando Amorsolo and Fabian de la Rosa, two classical painters who influenced her first works.
