    • 1. (1910–97), Roman Catholic nun and missionary, born of Albanian parentage in what is now North Macedonia; born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She became an Indian citizen in 1948. She founded the Order of Missionaries of Charity, noted for its work among the poor in Kolkata (Calcutta). Nobel Peace Prize (1979). She was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016. Feast day, 5th September.
