Jan 4, 2022 · In the Lord’s model prayer (Matthew 6:9–13), Jesus says, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (verse 13). The inclusion of a request for God not to lead us into temptation teaches us that avoiding temptation should be one of the primary concerns of the Christian life.
Jesus tells us to pray to the Father to not lead us into temptation. However, we know that God will not tempt us to sin ( James 1:13) because it is not in His holy nature. His grand desire and plan is to make us holy as He is holy ( 1 Peter 1:16 ).
KJV And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
REEDER: I love the translation, “Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” I actually think it’s a better translation because that’s exactly where this is aiming: we are reminded of Christ having endured temptation for us, and therefore, we are delivered through His faithfulness in all of life under the assault ...

We are to pray for God to lead us not into but through and out of temptation. Temptations and trials come to all, but we do not desire them. Our Savior said: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

We are taught not to think of the temptation in which lust meets opportunity as that into which God leads us (James 1:13-14); there is therefore something that shocks us in the thought of asking Him not to lead us into it.

Sep 23, 2022 · What is “lead us not into temptation” trying to say? In asking Heaven to come to Earth, we are begging God to save us from ourselves and the evil one out to get us. That salvation from temptation can take a number of different forms.
