University of Maribor. The University of Maribor (Slovene: Univerza v Mariboru) is Slovenia's second-largest university, established in 1975 in Maribor, Slovenia. It currently has 17 faculties.
The University of Maribor is the second biggest and the second oldest university in Slovenia, with seventeen faculties and over 14 000 students. It offers degree and credential programmes in various fields of study, and is ranked #851-900 in QS World University Rankings 2024.
In 1859, a new seminary and religious school was opened in Maribor. After 1959, some colleges were founded as a result of the economic and social needs of the northeastern Slovenia. In 1961 the Association of Institutions of Higher Education was established and incorporated the existing colleges. This Association lived through 1975 when the new University of Maribor was born.
The University of Maribor consists of 17 faculties which offer undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes as well as study programmes for further education.
