Chi Lin Nunnery ( Chinese: 志蓮淨苑; Jyutping: zi3 lin4 zing6 jyun2; Cantonese Yale: Jilìhn Jihng Yún) is a large Buddhist temple complex located in Diamond Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1934 as a retreat for Buddhist nuns and was rebuilt in the 1998 following the traditional Tang dynasty architecture.

The two masters vowed to nurture Buddhist talents and to establish a full-scale “conglin” to welcome nuns from all quarters to pursue their religious practice. They named it Chi Lin Nunnery, (“Chi” means aspiration and “Lin” means lotus - a symbol of the Pure Land) wishing to enhance the Pure Land School practice in Hong Kong.
Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden are two adjacent Tang dynasty-style (618–907) attractions connected across the road by a footbridge. A visit will let you soak up the region’s rich religious heritage and intricate garden design.
The Chi Lin Nunnery is a large and splendid Buddhist complex that combine arresting architecture, intricate and exquisite bonsai gardens and lotus ponds, and the soft chanting sounds of resident nuns and followers to fill you with a sense of serenity and inner peace, just blocks from the skyscrapers and mayhem of the city.
Located across the road from Nan Lian Garden this is a remarkable complex dating to 1934 when it was established as a place of retreat for Buddhist nuns. The current buildings date to 1998 after a rebuild based on traditional Tang Dynasty architecture.
