Hence, users are advised to view the hazard map overlain with the administrative boundary layer to visually verify how much of the area is within the scope of the hazard. Lastly, it should be noted that administrative boundaries used are only an approximate and are not considered authoritative.

Based from all available data today, the low-pressure area (LPA) over the Pacific is expected to enter the PAR on the 26rd or 27th of December.

The regional severe wind hazard generated for the tropical cyclones that passed through the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) are expressed in terms of return periods. These wind fields show the probability of any given magnitude that may occur in any given year.
Since it’s typhoon season in the Philippines once again, I am posting below the map of the so-called “Philippine Area of Responsibility,” or PAR for short. This is for the information of new Forum members and for a better public understanding of what this weather reporting term means.
