In 1985 the FirstOnatrio Center (then known as the Copps Coliseum) was built into Hamilton grounds to provide a much-needed sports arena that could hold larger ice hockey games and provide adequate seating for sports fans.

Jun 17, 2022 · Renovations to FirstOntario Centre, once projected as an NHL venue and most recently the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, will commence next spring as the 1985 arena becomes the centerpiece of new entertainment district. The former Cops Coliseum will undergo a privately financed facelift.
First Ontario Centre. The old Copps Coliseum is in downtown Hamilton between Main Street East and York Street-Catherine. FirstOntario Centre’s not a very walkable area. The best thing is that it’s just 45 minutes from Toronto or Niagara. Seating 219 or 115 is directly under the box.
