Jean Léopold Nicolas Frédéric, Baron Cuvier (23 August 1769 – 13 May 1832), known as Georges Cuvier (French: [ʒɔʁʒ kyvje]), was a French naturalist and zoologist, sometimes referred to as the "founding father of paleontology".
