  6. Miles Wedderburn Lampson was born in Killearn, Stirlingshire on 24 August 1880. He was the second of the four sons and the fourth of the six children of Norman George Lampson (1850–94) and his wife, Helen Agnes Blackburn (d. 1929).1 Lampson was at Eton from 1894 to 1898, and entered the Foreign Offi ce as a clerk in March 1903.
