Jacques Specx ( Dutch: [ˈʒɑk ˈspɛks]; 1585 – 22 July 1652) was a Dutch merchant, who founded the trade on Japan and Korea in 1609.
Jacques Specx (Dordrecht, 1585 – Amsterdam, 22 juli 1652) was voor de Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) opperhoofd op Firando, een van de grondleggers van de handel van de VOC met Japan en Korea en tussen 1629 en 1632 de tijdelijke gouverneur-generaal voor het hele VOC-handelsgebied ten oosten van de Kaap de Goede Hoop.

Jacques Specx received the support of William Adams to obtain extensive trading rights from Tokugawa Ieyasu, the Shogun emeritus, on August 24, 1609, which allowed him to establish a trading factory in Hirado on September 20, 1609.

Jacques Specx was the first opperhoofd (head, or factor) of the Dutch East India Company factory at Hirado, serving in that position from 20 September 1609 until 28 August 1612, and again from 1614/8/6 until 31 January 1621.
