Mark Lierly began playing drums when he was ten years old, inspired by his older brother. As his interest in music grew, he began taking lessons from a drum teacher at a local music store who stressed the importance of a deep understanding of note value, written notation, and diversity of style and technique.
The line up was solidified by the addition of Mark Lierly (drums) after the recording of the debut LP. Pallbearer's 2014 album, Foundations of Burden was recorded and produced by Billy Anderson at Type Foundry Studio in Portland, Oregon. The album was awarded Best New Music status by Pitchfork.

Aug 13, 2015 · Mark Lierly . There was some corrupted files. Luckily it never happened to me on the drums, but their guitar tracks... At one point I remember hearing Billy saying, “Man, I’ve never seen this happen before.” It’s like, “Oh, God, if something’s going on that he’s never seen before...”
May 20, 2024 · Mark Lierly has such amazing talent to deliver what each song needs, especially when they go from light to dark as much as these do. “ Signals ,” is a different sort of approach in the first couple minutes—it sounds very much like a folly singer/songwriter type of rock band.
