The Pontificio Collegio Urbano de Propaganda Fide (English: Pontifical Urban College for the Propagation of the Faith) was established in 1627 for the purpose of training missionaries to spread Catholicism around the world (the Latin term "de propaganda fide" means “for the propagation of the faith”).

CPF also urged the generals of religious orders to found schools of languages and controversy for missionaries destined for the East. In 1627, under Urban VIII, a seminary of the CPF called the Collegium Urbanum was founded to train for the secular priesthood candidates from all nations.
Il Pontificio Collegio Urbano “de Propaganda Fide” nasce dalle proposte ed iniziative di alcuni religiosi ed ecclesiastici che, davanti alla nuova situazione missionaria del mondo, auspicarono, agli inizi del Seicento, la creazione di un Centro di Formazione di missionari “ad gentes”.
