Heidi V. Brown. Heidi Virginia Brown (born 20 July 1959) is a retired U.S. Army Major General who was the first woman to command an air defense battalion and later, in combat, an air defense brigade. Biography. Born in Texas and raised in El Paso, Brown graduated from Austin High School in 1977.

Heidi K. Brown is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Associate Dean for Upper Level Writing at New York Law School, and a former litigator in the construction industry. She earned her master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021.
