From a famous family of actors and politicians, he is the brother of actor José Padilla, Jr., father to international boxing referee Carlos "Sonny" Padilla, Jr., grandfather to Philippine diva Zsa Zsa Padilla, and great-grandfather to Philippine singer Karylle.
