What needs to be understood first is that the King spoke of abdication all the time - it was to him a recurrent rhetorical device, a way to set things straight: I wear my crown as a duty, I don't especially like it, and if you like my cousin better, I'll get out of your way.

Jun 29, 2017 · Victor Emmanuel III was the Italian king from 1900-49 in OT, and was rather popular. I was unable to find any mention of him on the wiki, and if anyone else found something about him that would be great. If I remember correctly, somewhere it says the king was defamed after the Italian defeat in the Weltkrieg.
