Lola, knowing the plot, secretly drugs Mr. Applegate so he will sleep through the game. Mr. Applegate awakens to find the game in progress.
Dec 13, 2005 · Damn Yankees is a great movie musical, I rank it near the perfection of Mary Poppins and Sound of Music. But, I know why nobody, not Amazon, not Netflix, not broadcast or cable shows this anymore. A couple quick vignettes, maybe 20 seconds, that might be ethnically offensive.

Nov 8, 2006 · Damn Yankees was a big hit on the Great White Way. Unfortunately what plays well on a Broadway stage doesn't automatically work on the big screen. Not enough was done to open the musical up for the movies. The scenes on the baseball field seem especially fake. Eric is also right about Gwen Verdon. She is no movie star.
Damn Yankees the film was released in 1958. In 1960 the original Washington Senators played their last year in Washington, DC. For the poor fans of the Senators it was a double blow.
