Jun 14, 2022 · In addition, Todne Thomas, a socio-cultural anthropologist who studies racial, spatial, and familial dynamics of Black Christian communities in the U.S., is coming to YDS as a Presidential Visiting Fellow for the 2022-23 academic year. Dr. Thomas is currently Associate Professor of African American Religious Studies at Harvard Divinity School.

George was the son of Lutheran missionaries in China who spent the first seventeen years of his life in China and Korea. He was educated at Gustavus Adolphus College (B.A. in 1943) and Yale Divinity School (B.D. in 1946 and Ph.D. in 1955 [the Ph.D. program was located at the Divinity School at that time]).
Graduates of theological schools of recognized standing who have obtained the B.D. or MDIV degree may be admitted to a program of studies leading to the Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M.) degree. The work for this theological degree may be regarded as a fourth year of preparation for the Christian ministry.
